Several localities within the Commonwealth have utilized a Kids fishing day to bring awareness to Children and parents of the ample outdoor opportunities of the area.
Here in the New River Valley we are blessed to have outdoor opportunities second to none. Tens of thousands of acres of public lands, miles and miles of clean clear waters.
The best and most time tested way to introduce kids to the outdoors is through a line cast in to sparkling waters. The moment the first fish tugs is indelibly etched into a child’s memory and many instantly become changed. They realize they want to be outside.
The Blue Ridge Mountains Council Boy Scout Reservation has graciously offered to hold the Kids Fishing Day at Camp Powhatan. Their 2 ½ acre lake will be stocked with over 1,000 pounds of trout. The lake is very accessible and very “Kid Friendly”.
We are offering display (no “for sale” items) space to those interested sponsors: bring your canopy, set up a table and display your products, services, activities to a crowd of like minded consumers.
Lunch will always be provided by River Of Life Church starting at 11 am.
Entertainment provided by Southern Nights Band
